BAYONET FARM FAQ’S
We are pleased that you are interested in holding your event at Bayonet Farm. Here are answers to our most frequently asked questions:
Facility (Bayonet Farm)
Bayonet Farm is a public park which is open from dawn to dusk. The two barns on the farm are available for wedding, party or event rentals (evening rentals are possible subject to separate review and approval). To use the park after dusk you will need to submit a request for a variance with a lighting plan (i.e. solar lights along path from parking to event area for safety). Rental must end by 11PM to ensure clean up by midnight.
There is no smoking at Bayonet Farm.
Capacity
The maximum occupancy of each barn is 100 persons with tables and chairs and 200 persons with chairs only. The interior of the Red Barn is 40 feet by 49 feet and the Gray Barn is 32 feet by 61feet. If your party is over 100 guests, a tent is recommended (either stand alone or in combination with a barn rental).
Electric
Electricity and lighting are available and have been recently updated in both barns.
A/C or Heat
There is no A/C or heat in either barn. Both have very large double doors which allow good air flow. The Gray barn has ceiling fans. The Red Barn ceiling is about 25 feet high allowing for a comfortable floor level temperature. During chilly months, an external hot air blower can be rented by your caterer to heat the room. No portable heaters are allowed.
Restroom
The facility has an ADA port-a-john on site at the Red Barn from March 1st thru November 30th. You are permitted to rent additional units. (A mobile unit will need a generator. Depending on location, water may be available). The unit(s) can be dropped off on Friday and picked up on Monday. However, you will need to have someone present when they drop it off to tell them where it should be placed. You should also indicate this on a map. Plans are underway for restrooms in the Red Barn. The installation date has not been determined.
Parking
Angle parking along inner roadways is permitted. A parking lot (between red & gray barn) for about 50 cars is planned and will be completed in 2010.
Kitchen
There are no kitchens and cooking is not permitted inside any building.
Caterers
Renters have complete discretion concerning the caterer they use. Caterers will need extension cords and water for cooking. There is non potable well water at each barn. A Food Handler Permit is required from Holmdel Township Board of Health. The Holmdel Township Construction Office – Fire Prevention Bureau must be contacted if cooking with open flames or propane. No open flames are allowed inside the barns.
Alcohol
Caterers serving alcoholic beverages are required to submit an ‘Application for Catering Permit’ through the Holmdel Township Clerks Office. Additional insurance and regulations apply.
Tents
Tents are permitted in designated areas. A permit is required from Holmdel Township Construction Office.
Tables and Chairs
A limited supply of six foot rectangular tables and folding chairs are available to accommodate the needs of small to modest sized rentals(about 25 -35 guests). Please discuss these needs with us at time of rental. For larger parties, the applicant must rent tables and chairs from a private vendor.
Insurance
Holmdel Township requires that you sign a ‘Hold Harmless Agreement’. We would recommend that you check with your insurance agent to advise you as to whether you should get a certificate of general liability insurance naming Holmdel Township as additional insured in connection with the use of the premises at Bayonet Farm. If serving alcoholic beverages, the caterer needs to submit a Certificate of Liability Insurance as stated on the ‘Special Events’ form - naming Holmdel Township as additional insured.
Staff
Parks maintenance staff attends each event to assist with basic clean up (like garbage removal) and monitor for compliance of all rules and regulations. Other assistance will require assessment of an additional fee.
Residents
For purposes of rental, a resident is defined as any individual/business that pays taxes to Holmdel Township. All others will be considered non-residents.
Deposit
A $250 refundable deposit along with application is required to hold the date.
Decorating
Time for setup and decorating will be determined by type of rental (additional fees may apply).
