The Bayonet Farm Advisory Committee (BFAC) is a group of annually appointed volunteers who advise the Holmdel Township Committee on matters pertaining to the operation, maintenance and overall use of the 240 acre Bayonet Farm estate.

What is the mission of the Committee? The "terms of sale" when Bayonet Farm was sold to Holmdel state: "The premises shall be held by the Township of Holmdel and used in perpetuity for the purposes of recreation, health, horticulture, public park and gardens, including by way of illustration, but not of limitation, the preservation and conservation of open spaces, bird sanctuaries, arboretums and nature and equestrian trails."

In this multi faceted role, the committee seeks to meet stipulations of Laura Harding's bequest, conform to the Green Acres funding requirements used to purchase part of the estate, and provide overall benefit to the Holmdel community.

Our Committee's mission is to advise the Township Committee on use and preservation of the Bayonet Farm buildings and property. Specifically, the BFAC will identify guiding principles for building and land use, preservation and repair, recommend future use alternatives with consideration of infrastructure requirements, compile information on historical significance and consider preservation opportunities, and work with the Township Committee to explore grant opportunities and other sources of income to help with upkeep of the property.

In 2008, the Holmdel Township Committee adopted a mission for Bayonet Farm to serve as a venue for the advancement of the cultural, historical, and environmental heritage of Holmdel and its surrounding region through educational programs, exhibitions, performances, recreation and other related activities. The Bayonet Farm Advisory Committee strives to support this mission through a variety of programs and events.
