LECTURE and GUIDED TOUR

A unique two day opportunity to have fun!

June 10, 2010, 1 pm lecture at the Gray Star Barn at Bayonet Farm
Barbara Tomlinson will provide an illustrated lecture about historical “Chinese Scholar’s Gardens”, along with essential how to’s for creating one in your own yard.  Barbara is a former Holmdel resident and a retired professor in humanities at Kean College  who lectures widely on art and culture and leads group tours to explore the cultural resources of cities in the US and Europe.    

June 18, 2010 Fieldtrip
Board our bus – at the Holmdel Community Center at 8:45 am - and travel to Snug Harbor on Staten Island to see an actual Chinese Scholars garden, one of the few formal gardens on the East Coast.  After a guided tour of the Scholars Garden we will have time to wander through the other gardens at Snug Harbor, including a white garden, a butterfly garden and a Tuscan garden.  A box lunch from Dearborn Market will be provided for a picnic in the garden. 

This program is sponsored via a collaborative effort between the Bayonet Farm Advisory Committee, the Garden Club RFD and the Holmdel half Century Club.  

COST FOR PROGRAM
Lecture                                                                      $15 for Holmdel residents, $20 for non-residents
